چکیده
In wheelchair racing, measuring pushrim kinetics such as propulsion forces and moments is paramount for improving performance preventing injuries. However, there currently no instrumented racing wheel that records 3D wirelessly at a high sample rate, which necessary accurately analysing biomechanics. this work, we present an measures 2500 Hz. Bidirectional wireless communication used to interface the through smart phone. The was tested with world-class athlete who propelled maximal acceleration speed on training roller. During acceleration, peak total force increased continuously from 186 N 484 while tangential constant 171 ± 15 N. At higher speeds, counterproductive measured during first 15% last 25% of push phase, peaking -78 This may be great value both coaches athletes help planning validating programs adaptations positioning. also has very potential further research biomechanics shoulder pathologies associated sport.

Racing wheelchair rear wheel alignment.
This technical note describes a time-saving device for aligning the rear wheels of a racing wheelchair. The newly-developed analog alignment device is compared to the now standard discrete alignment device. The analog alignment device is found to reduce the time needed to align the rear wheels by nearly 75 percent, while increasing the accuracy of the alignment. The device does not noticeably a...
متن کاملWheelchair racing sports science: a review.
Wheelchair racing science and the performance of athletes involved in wheelchair racing have developed rapidly in recent years. With increasing interest in this sport, the need arises to identify areas where further research is necessary and cooperation between individuals with various backgrounds is encouraged. Many of the problems facing investigators in this field require knowledge in severa...
متن کاملRacing wheelchair crown compensation.
This paper is concerned with the directional stability of racing wheelchairs on crown roads. Three types of crown compensators are described and evaluated: the push-pull, the push-push, and the pull-pull. It was found that the push-push and the push-pull types of compensators have the most desirable characteristics, and were, in general, safer than the pull-pull type. In addition, the equations...
متن کاملHigh Sample Rate Optically Pumped Helium Magnetometer
Optically pumped helium magnetometers are important instruments whichhave many applications in military, mass spectroscopy and space applications. In thispaper, the working principles of helium magnetometers have been explained. There isalso an introduction of a new method for finding the resonant frequency, which hasadvantages to the typical method such as more sample r...
متن کاملMethods for determining three-dimensional wheelchair pushrim forces and moments: a technical note.
This technical note illustrates that some of the differences that have been reported regarding wheelchair propulsion may be due to the methods used to calculate key variables. Wheelchair ambulation is a very important form of locomotion that lacks a standard pushrim force and moment analysis system. We have developed tools for analyzing upper limb biomechanics during manual wheelchair propulsio...
